ABOUT OUR PASSION
That’s me, Logan McElfresh, the owner, founder, and lead trainer at Gold Standard Performance. I founded Gold Standard Performance in 2022 as a place for athletes to train like athletes and achieve their full potential while building a foundation for a lifetime of fitness. We officially opened our doors in July 2022, but the journey to GSP started far before that.

Growing up athletics was huge in my family of 5 kids. We all wanted to be the best we could but never truly had guidance on how to do that or what that looked like. I played baseball, football, and basketball throughout high school and participated in the state tournament in all three of them. I was always a very skilled athlete, but as I got into high school sports, I realized that having skill was not enough. After my freshman football season, I began to start lifting and working out. Walking into the weight room was very intimidating for me as I was one of the weakest ones there. Pretty quickly, I fell in love with the process of getting stronger, and by the time I was a senior, I was a leader in the weight room.

I then went on to punt at the University of Minnesota, where I decided I wanted to be a strength coach. I originally wanted to work in the college sector and coach division 1 football athletes until I took an internship where I fell in love with coaching and helping youth athletes develop the right way. From there, I spent four years in college, absorbing as much knowledge as I could when it came to performance. After graduating with a B.S. in Kinesiology I worked for a high-level sports performance company based out of Minneapolis for 3 years, where I worked with everyone from 8-year-old athletes to professional athletes in multiple sports.
Finally, in 2020 I moved back to Brainerd to open a training facility and give the Brainerd Lakes Area a resource that my siblings and I did not have growing up in outstate Minnesota. Gold Standard Performance — is that facility.
